Do Reverse Phone Lookup Services Really Work?
One of the questions we keep getting with these reverse phone lookup services is, “Do they really work?”
What we found and explained in our “how to find someone by phone number” review is that phone directories (the free ones) only provide valid information for landlines. So, if you are looking someone up by their landline telephone, you should try a free service first. If you’re lucky enough to get results, then your search can stop there. In most cases, you’ll need to try a slightly different approach.
What do I do next?
Cell phones and unlisted phone numbers basically get no results on these services. Why you ask? It’s simple. Landlines are considered public domain and therefore have to be made available to the public. You can, however, pay a small fee to have your number removed from these directories (which we’d recommend to anyone for privacies sake).
Another problem lies in the fact that all of the free services use the same database to hold their phone numbers so trying multiple free sites might be a huge waste of time.
The best way to find the contact info of the number you are looking at is by using a paid service (we don’t like the sound of that either). But we think you’ll find it to be a good investment if you are in need of this kind of service. After doing some research we found that these types of reverse phone lookup services are used by local stores to keep track of anyone who calls for product info.
Hopefully this post cleared up any confusion about these services.
